Offset printing is a commonly used printing technique where an inked image is transferred (or “offset”) from a plate to a rubber blanket, then to paper. The offset process is a lithographic process. Lithoghraphy is a process based on the repulsion of oil and water.
An image that is offset printed is separated into its fundamental colors. (This example is assuming a 4 color job, ie. a brochure with text and images. There are times when there is only one or two colors or even six or eight.)
All the printed colours are broken down into the primary printing colors; cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK). The image is broken down into these four colors and four seperate plates are made and then printed accordingly.
Digital printing
It is the process of printing digital-based images directly onto a variety of media substrates. There is no need for a printing plate, unlike with offset printing.
We offer the broadest digital printing press portfolio of cut-sheet digital presses and production printers. Sheet-fed digital printing presses are ideal for graphic communications and commercial print providers' high-speed, high-volume printing applications, including publishing, transaction printing, direct mail and packaging.
Screen printing
(also known as silk screening) is one of the oldest methods of printmaking. The process involves creating a stencil of an image on a screen of porous mesh, traditionally made of silk. A roller or squeegee is used to pull paint-like ink over the stencil, forcing it through the mesh onto the paper being printed.
Unlike the inks used in some other forms of printing, screen printing ink sits right on the surface of paper, resulting in incredibly rich, vibrant color.
